Belfast Book Festival Meet the Author: Bernie McGill

FreeBernie McGill is one of Northern Ireland’s most respected authors and following the May 2018 launch of The Watch House in paperback, come along and join in the conversation led by BBC’s Helen Mark.
Focusing on her career to date and the recent inspiration and setting for The Watch House, Rathlin Island, this is the perfect opportunity for you to get to know the author in an informal and relaxed session at Books, Paper, Scissors bookshop.
Bernie McGill studied English and Italian at QUB and graduated with a Masters degree in Irish Writing. She has written for theatre (The Weather Watchers, The Haunting of Helena Blunden), novels, The Watch House and The Butterfly Cabinet and a short story collection, Sleepwalkers. Her short fiction has been nominated for numerous awards and in 2008 she won the Zoetrope:All-Story Short Fiction Award in the US. Her work has been anthologised in award-winning collections The Long Gaze Back, The Glass Shore and in Female Lines. She is a recipient of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s inaugural ACES (Artists’ Career Enhancement Scheme) Award in association with the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s University, Belfast.
